About Us

The Borders Model Boat Club is based in the Scottish Borders and welcomes all modellers, though our main interest is in boat modelling.  Members come from all walks of life, with main interests in model boats, model engineering, model aircraft, model railways, model vehicle and static display models.

Club members usually meet to sail boats on the first and third Sundays of the month throughout the year, (weather permitting) on Gunknowe Loch in Tweedbank, meeting at about 12.30pm at the Loch, although dates are sometimes varied to take into account other happenings in the Borders area.

We have a talks programme, from October to June,   usually meeting each month on the afternoon of the last Wednesday of the month, when we have speakers talking about a variety of topics of interest to model builders. The talks are held in St Boswells Village Hall.

GunKnowe Loch

Permission has been given by the Borders Regional Council for Club Members to sail on Sundays at the Southern end of the Loch, which is located in Tweedbank Public Park.

Weather and Virus permitting, we usually meet at 12.00 on the 1st and third Sundays of the month (The Club Sailing Dates are listed below.) Members of other Model Boat Clubs are invited to join us.

There is a car park adjacent to the loch in Tweedbank Drive, very close to where we sail.

Use the Post Code TD1 3RP on Sat-Navs to locate the Loch, which is about 10 minutes walk from  Tweedbank Railway Station.

Please note that IC engined models and fast electric models are not permitted on the loch.
